Privacy Policy
Audeno has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, no tracking and no third-party code. Everything the app keeps about your listening and reading stays on your iPhone, and, only if you turn iCloud sync on, in the iCloud of your own Apple Account, where we cannot see it. Lesson recordings are downloaded from Apple's iCloud servers, and purchases go through the App Store; we never see your payment details. This website sets no cookies and runs no analytics; like any web server, it keeps standard access logs for a short time, only to keep the site running and secure.
Who we are
Audeno is made and sold on the App Store by Yahor Kamarou, Ukraine. Questions about privacy go to hello@audeno.app.
What stays on your iPhone
So that the app opens the way you left it, it keeps on your phone: your progress in each lesson and the place where you stopped; the notes you write after a lesson; your place in each book and your bookmarks; the quotes you save and the ones you mark yourself; and your preferences: the language of the interface and of the books, text size and page theme, whether music plays after a lesson, and whether iCloud sync is on.
All of this is kept in the app's own folder on the phone and in its settings. Nothing in it is sent to us. Deleting the app deletes everything it kept, unless you have a copy in iCloud.
If you back up your iPhone to iCloud or to a computer, iOS may include this data in the backup. That backup is yours and is handled by Apple under its terms; we never see it.
iCloud sync, if you turn it on
Sync is off until you turn it on in Settings. When it is on, the app keeps one copy of your listening progress, lesson notes, reading positions, bookmarks and quotes, and your text settings, in the private iCloud database of your Apple Account, so that your other devices signed in to the same account can show the same progress, bookmarks and quotes. That copy is stored by Apple under its iCloud terms. It can be read only by your own devices; we have no access to it and cannot see what is in it.
Before the app replaces data on the phone or in iCloud, it keeps a recovery copy on the phone, and you can go back to it from Settings. If the Apple Account on the phone changes, the app stops syncing and asks you what to do. You can turn sync off at any time, and you can delete the iCloud copy from Settings; after that, the data exists only on your devices.
Lesson recordings
The recordings of the lessons are not built into the app. The first time you play a lesson, when the app prepares the next lesson so that it starts at once, or when you download a course you own, the app fetches the recording from Apple's iCloud servers, from Audeno's public CloudKit database. This needs an internet connection.
The request names the recording and is handled by Apple. It carries nothing you have saved and needs no sign-in. Apple gives us only technical figures about this database, such as how many requests it served and whether any failed; they do not tell us who you are, and we do not use them to follow what anyone listens to.
Downloaded lessons are kept in the app's folder on your iPhone and are left out of device backups. You can delete them in Settings, Downloads; a deleted lesson downloads again when you play it.
Purchases
Books are bought through the App Store. Apple handles the payment and the receipt, and we never see your payment details or your Apple Account. To open the books you have bought, the app asks the App Store on your phone which purchases belong to your Apple Account; that check happens between your phone and Apple. Apple's own privacy policy applies to the App Store.
Permissions and background audio
Audeno asks for no permissions: it does not use the microphone, the camera, your location, your contacts or your photos. A lesson keeps playing when you lock the phone or switch to another app, and its title shows on the Lock Screen with the usual playback controls. What you listen to is recorded only on your iPhone, and in your own iCloud if you turn sync on.
Information Apple may share with us
If you allow your iPhone to share analytics with app developers, Apple may give us crash reports and totals such as the number of downloads and sales by country. These do not identify you, and we use them only to fix problems and to see how Audeno is doing.
Children
Audeno collects nothing from anyone, children included, and contains no advertising. Books are bought through the App Store, where a family's Ask to Buy and other parental controls apply.
This website and e-mail
This website is hosted on a server we rent from DigitalOcean in Frankfurt, Germany. It sets no cookies and runs no analytics or advertising. Like any web server, it keeps access logs (the IP address, the time, the page requested and how the browser describes itself) for up to 14 days, to keep the site running and secure, which is our legitimate interest; then they are deleted. The free lessons and texts on this site come from the same server.
If you write to hello@audeno.app, your message passes through our domain's mail forwarding and our mailbox provider. We use it only to answer you and delete it when the matter is closed.
Your rights
The only personal data we may hold about you is your message, if you write to us, and the short-lived server logs of this website. You can ask us at hello@audeno.app to show you or delete them, and you may complain to the data protection authority where you live. Everything the app keeps is on your phone, or in your own iCloud, under your control, and you can delete it there yourself.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will appear on this page with a new date. This version is effective from 14 October 2026.
