Christian D. Larson

1874 to 1962

Christian D. Larson was an American writer, teacher and publisher, born in Iowa to Norwegian parents. In the early 1900s he founded a magazine in Cincinnati and went on to write dozens of books about the mind, the will and what a person can make of themselves.

His short creed of 1912, a list of promises to oneself, became one of the most widely reprinted texts of its kind. His books are read for their confidence: the conviction that attention, imagination and character are forces, and that each of them can be trained.
